In May, I am preparing to reach Barcelona, from the village of Vernet Les Bains located 30 kilometers from the Spanish border. Arrival on the ridges, with a breathtaking view of the top of Canigou:

Then arrived at the highest point of the crossing, the mist rises, the path disappear under the clouds, and the shelter for the night finally appears. Filled with snow, the night promises to be freezing at around 2,500 meters above sea level.

The next day I calmly reach the border, skirting the last snowfields.

Then it is the descent alone to the first village where I hitchhike to reach a small town where I will find a hotel for the night:

I then take a full day to reach another emblematic Catalan place, the Monastery of Montserrat. Several families hitchhiked me. The first person who hitchhikes me stops at the next town to pick up one of her friends at the station, she had the intuition to have a third coffee, not knowing yet that there would be three on board . They are activists for the animal cause, as I don't have a lot of money, she also gives me enough to buy me a meal. Who says generosity doesn't exist?

I am welcomed like a pilgrim to the monastery after a night in bivouac. I enjoy the place for 3 days, here the surroundings:

And the monastery :

It only remains for me to get off by train to Barcelona, a very pleasant city.
